Small Government

by Larry Tate on February 13, 2010

“All they want to do is grow the size of government. Government doesn’t create jobs!”

— John Boehner (R-OH)

Except for the Post Office, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, Coast Guard, Department of Defense, CIA, NSA, FBI, Homeland Security, Police, Firemen, Social Security Administration, Forestry Service, Federal and State judges, Treasury Department, Department of the Interior, Department of Transportation, Amtrak, Department of Energy, Department of Labor, Department of State, public school teachers, Environmental Protection Agency, the FDIC, Veterans Affairs, National Parks, Bureau of Indian Affairs, census workers, Customs and Border Protection, Center for Disease Control, Copyright Office, Department of Agriculture, NASA, the Smithsonian Museum. And hundreds more that you’ve never heard of.

Oh, and let’s not forget John Boehner’s own job as Minority Leader in the US Congress. I’d say if Boehner wants to reduce the size of government, he should lead the way.

In all, the US government is actually our nation’s largest employer, creating two million federal jobs and 750,000 postal service jobs. And all federal employees receive a good wage, a retirement plan, and health insurance.

John, I hate what you just said.
