The “untidy” freedom of Baghdad’s top university:
Mustansiriya University, one of Iraq’s most prestigious universities, was temporarily closed this month by the prime minister in an effort to rid it of a shadowy student gang accused of murdering, torturing and raping fellow students, and killing professors and administrators.
Reminds me of something that good ol’ Don Rumsfeld used to say:
“Freedom’s untidy, and free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things . . . They’re also free to live their lives and do wonderful things. And that’s what’s going to happen here.”
