-If the Lisbon Treaty passes, Tony Blair (above, left) may be the first European president.

-All of those right-wingers who said President Obama put Chicago in the bag for the Olympic Games were wrong.

-Matthew Yglesias gives WAPO the smackdown yet again.

-Salon takes a look at big-time global warming lies.

-If you have five and a half minutes to spare, this time-lapse video of typhoon Nangka over Hong Kong is worth a look.

-McCain’s 2008 campaign manager says Palin in 2012 would be a catastrophe for the GOP (and I think it would be a catastrophe for Earth if she won).

-Paul Krugman says that while we may have averted a giant depression, more stimulus is needed for job creation.

-I guess it’s time-lapse-video day:  here’s a striking video of the pomp and circumstance at yesterday’s 60th PRC anniversary celebration in China.  Its full of  tanks, planes, flowers, musicians, dancers, giant pictures of Deng Xiaoping, and women in bizarrely sexy military uniforms.  The video is rather amazing.
