From the “This is so stupid it makes me want to die” department at IHWYJS, here’s the jist of a truly mesmerizingly dumb argument made recently in the Arizona state senate:
We should mine uranium so “we can move forward into the future and our grandchildren can have the same lifestyle we have.” And all the fuss over the dangers of uranium mining is silly because “this earth has been here six thousand years, long before anybody had environmental laws, and somehow it hasn’t been done away with.” And the best part is that “you’ll never even know the mine was there when they’re done.”
These remarks come from Arizona state senator Sylvia Allen (R – obviously).
